> Hi Scott,
I'm new to the group so I hope that you please don't find me too
forward, but would love to comment on the tithing situation. First,
I would like to say that I love the Lord with all my
heart, strength, soul and mind and yet that may not be much as I am
still learning and the more I know, the more that I know that I
don't know, if that makes sense. And Tammy I have need in healing in
my own body and you might be the answer to my own prayers in which I
will write to you later.
Please forgive me for getting off track. _Tithing- I believe that
God does pour out His blessings and it's not the tithing that is a
problem, but who the church says we are to tithe to, I believe is
the hindrance. This is what I believe, this is what I do, and this
is why I feel that the Lord meets all of my needs. I'm not rich,
mind you, but the Lord has always been faithful to me.The same Lord
that said bring all your tithe into the storehouse also said, Know
ye not that you are the temple of the Holy Ghost? Jesus also
said,"just as you have done it to the LEAST of these My brethren,
you have done it unto me." He also said to the young rich man, thou
lackest one thing, sell all that you have, GIVE IT UNTO THE POOR,
and take up your cross and follow me. now what I see in the pulpits
makes me sick and angry! A man, in one of his $300.00 suits, driving
one of his many cars, from one of his many homes, standing there to
tell us that if we give him a tenth of our income along with
offering, that we can be blessed and have all just like him. I know
of friends and relatives that love the Lord and have been faithful
in that for years and still drive the same raggedy car and wear the
same raggedy clothes and struggle from day to day to make ends meet.
Why? Because I believe the Lord did not say give to the rich.(1) I
think He said give to the poor.(2) When He rose from the dead, He
took up residence in our bodies, not a brick and mortar building,
therefore, if we are the temple, then that is where the storehouse
is, is it not?(3) I also believe that a tenth does not belong to
God. I believe ALL OF IT belongs to God and I pray over and ask God
about where to put every penny that He has trusted in my care and He
has me give often and consistently and once in awhile he blesses me
by telling this time this blessing is just for me, and by being
faithful to obedience unto Him, often times needs OR wants arise and
before I can ask Him for them, He already supplies them. He is so
faithful and wonderful. hope this has helped, Blessings, Pamela
