The NRCEV is currently conducting a national search for qualified and interested individuals to serve on our volunteer Certification Board.  The Certification Board is responsible for the management and oversight of the certification programs, including activities related to the determination of eligibility, certification requirements, and application process and the development, administration, and scoring of the assessment instruments.

To ensure a balance on the board, the board shall include the following minimum representatives: the NRCEV Chief Executive Officer, one (1) public member and one (1) certificant member and will have up to nine (9) total members.  A public member is one who, while they may be a licensed amateur radio operator, is not involved in emergency communications or whose organization utilized EmComm volunteers.  Certification Board members hold the title of Commissoner to differentiate them from members of the Board of Directors.

All Commissioners, except for the certificant member, shall serve for a period of 5 years and may be re-elected to the board. The certificant Member is limited to a two years term in order to rotate representation among certified individuals.  Certificant members may serve multiple terms, but not consecutively.

The primary backgrounds we are looking for in members of the Certification Board are: volunteer emergency communications, emergency management and/or education. 

NRCEV certifications are designed and intended to be independent of organizational structures and reach beyond political and organizational boundaries. In order to facilitate this principle we are looking for individuals from across the nation who bring with them the different perspectives of the major organizations/programs providing emergency communication services (ARES®, RACES, REACT, ACS, CERT etc).  However, they may not represent such organizations, officially or un-officially.

In addition to these backgrounds and organizational/program perspective, the primary attribute a member of the Certification Board must have is a strong belief in the purpose and goals of the NRCEV and a sincere desire to work to promote and ensure the validity, integrity, recognition and reciprocity of all NRCEV Certifications and related programs.
