Description
NP-ED-VIC is an unmoderated email discussion group, i.e. your email contributions are distributed automatically to all those who have subscribed either daily or as soon as you send it, without having first to be vetted by a moderator. The NP-ED-VIC discussion group is focused on issues pertaining to the development of Nurse Practitioner (NP) services in the Emergency Departments (EDs) of Victoria, Australia. Issues such as the development of clinical practice guidelines, the development of a medication formulary relevant to Nurse Practitioners working in EDs of Victoria, policy formation, educational opportunities and any professional issues are appropriate for discussion.
Membership was initially limited to NP candidates and NPs working in Victorian EDs in 2004, and those involved in the implementation and management of NP programs in the EDs of Victoria. Applications from other interested persons were considered by the list-owner on an individual basis and adopted to broaden the audience in 2007.
Information dissemination is either by a daily email digest to an address of your choice or by individual emails. The discussion group is configured to allow attachments to be added to emails.
Usual netiquette rules apply: focus on issues relevant to the discussion group, offensive content is not permitted (even if it is meant in jest), always ensure the subject line of your email reflects the content, always sign your email and if possible include the name of the organisation to which you are affiliated, keep your email short and to the point, and most importantly do not include any information that could result in a patient being identified.
Remember: WHEN REPLYING DO NOT INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL EMAIL/DIGEST; be aware your email may be read by many people who in turn are capable of forwarding it to others.
This discussion group is not affiliated with any government or professional body and is not allied to any hospital or health care facility.
