Dear Jim,
I hope all is well with you and your family. It seems like just a moment ago that we were last meeting in Greensboro. I received the book today, and it really looks interesting. Unfortunately, when I went to my calendar, I discovered that I can not be away that weekend, so I will be unable to attend the Winston-Salem training. I will do my best to keep up. All of a sudden I have several flattering job offers, and my new house is nearly ready and I am preparing to move, so changes abound! Please give everyone my regrads. Kate Gomes

Hi folks...books and logistical info about our March 24-25 gathering in Winston-Salem went out today.  Sorry for the lateness of the mailing.  I hope all is well.....it will be great to see everyone.

For those not coming, we will stay in touch and look for ways to all get together.

Love to all....

Dear dear friends,

I look forward to seeing each of you in a few weeks in Greensboro.  This will be the 6th and final session for this year's class of NC Addiction Fellows.

I will be mailing a letter to each member of the 2005 Class, with directions etc...but be on notice to be ready to leave our hotel in Greensboro (The Battleground Inn) at 1:30pm on Thursday.  We will proceed together to our meeting place for the remainder of the day.

Fellows from the first two classes are also staying at the Battleground Inn on Friday evening.  There is no program that evening, but I think plans are being made for these groups to meet at a restaurant nearby.  You will need to leave from the hotel on Saturday morning at 8:30 to go to the Center for Creative Leadership where you will have a morning session prior to joining this year's class for lunch and graduation.

I hope my letter to each of you will more clearly explain the plans for this final weekend.  It is an important weekend as we celebrate the accomplishments of this year's class and look forward to next year, when we will gather a few times as one large body...to continue learning and to plan how we can impact the field in NC.

NOTE:  I NEED TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE IN YEAR 1 AND 2 AS TO YOUR PLANS TO BE WITH US ON FRIDAY/SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2-3 SO I CAN MAKE PLANS FOR FOOD AND ROOM.  I CAN'T COVER TRAVEL BUT I WILL COVER YOUR ROOM AND FOOD.

you care about these words.

Hi there,

I am SAM, an Iraqi refugee living in Lebanon at the moment; I have spent the
last 10 years of my life as a refugee registered with the UNHCR in Beirut. The
last 4 years, I have spent as an activist for peace and human rights (especially
refugees and asylum seekers) on the Internet; I'm also books author and ebooks
publisher. I have launched many campaigns to improve our situation as refugees
in Lebanon and hopefully bring more understanding to our problems worldwide. I
helped make many changes and improvements at the UNHCR office in Beirut; I used
the Internet as the field for my activities (you can read more about that in my
free ebook 'MY CAMPAIGNS'). All my ebooks are free and could be download from my
sites.

This is my newest campaign, it's about the illegal and humiliating actions of
the UNHCR, who using photos of refugees as banners and human-buttons to collect
money. This is an abuse of the dignity and humanity of the refugees and must
stop immediately and a clear public apology present by The United Nations High
Commissioner for Refugees. My friends, I am talking about the pictures you can

after the last scandals in the UN and UNHCR, just for example: The refugees
allege that UNHCR staff is selling most of the food items they are supposed to
be supplied.
"They aren't supplying sufficient food to us because they sell most of the food
items," they allege: http://allafrica.com/stories/200503140214.html

Dear Jennifer,
Congratulations!  Glad to hear the baby and you are well.  You were very much missed at the training, but present nevertheless in many ways.  It sounds like you have a wonderful family, not to mention your program that helps so many.  You're a blessing; have a great holiday.
With Love,

Hello everyone! Jennifer asked me to let all of you know that Joshua
Aidan
arrived safely at 1:22 a.m. on December the 7th. He weighed in at 7
pounds
and 12 ounces and was 19 inches long. Both Jennifer and Joshua are
doing
well. He's a beautiful little boy with fuzzy blonde hair and a sweet
disposition. Much to the relief of his parents, he's a content little
fellow, only crying when he's hungry or needs to be changed. We'll
e-mail
pictures of the new addition soon. Hope all of you are doing well and
enjoying the holiday season.

Good Morning All,

To echo Henry's sentiments it is my prayer that all
who travel, travel safely and all who diet, welll your
on you own there.

Getting anxious to see each of you nexy week, in
retrospect it seems almost impossible that a year has
passed since that first day at Pavillion.

See you next week.

God Bless!

Always,

Dear dear friends,

I look forward to seeing each of you in a few weeks in Greensboro.
This
will be the 6th and final session for this year's class of NC
Addiction
Fellows.

I will be mailing a letter to each member of the 2005 Class, with
directions
etc...but be on notice to be ready to leave our hotel in Greensboro
(The
Battleground Inn) at 1:30pm on Thursday. We will proceed together to
our
meeting place for the remainder of the day.

Fellows from the first two classes are also staying at the Battleground
Inn
on Friday evening. There is no program that evening, but I think plans
are
being made for these groups to meet at a restaurant nearby. You will
need
to leave from the hotel on Saturday morning at 8:30 to go to the Center
for
Creative Leadership where you will have a morning session prior to
joining
this year's class for lunch and graduation.

I hope my letter to each of you will more clearly explain the plans for
this
final weekend. It is an important weekend as we celebrate the
accomplishments of this year's class and look forward to next year,
when we
will gather a few times as one large body...to continue learning and to
plan
how we can impact the field in NC.

NOTE: I NEED TO HEAR FROM EVERYONE IN YEAR 1 AND 2 AS TO YOUR PLANS TO
BE
WITH US ON FRIDAY/SATURDAY, DECEMBER 2-3 SO I CAN MAKE PLANS FOR FOOD
AND
ROOM. I CAN'T COVER TRAVEL BUT I WILL COVER YOUR ROOM AND FOOD.

Jim and Fellows ALL,

I regret I will not be able to be with everyone for the 2005 Graduation Ceremony.

This is the weekend  (December 2nd and 3rd) concluding Shirley's 6th round of chemo.  Each round has been progressively more difficult for Shirley to bounce back to her usual dynamic energy.

On the + side.  Those nasty nodes are SIGNIFICANTLY reduced in size and number.  So the chemo is working and we are hoping that this is the last round for many years.  We appreciate all of you who have kept us in your hearts & prayers.

Love, Truth,

George LeRoy

Even HBO had us in mind when they were programming on Thursday
night. They premiered a program called Yes, that's why I was anti-
social on Thursday evening. Check it out at Methadonia –
http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/methadonia/index.html . Here's a
synopsis: For more than 30 years, methadone has been used to treat
heroin addiction. But when mixed with other substances, such as
benzodiazopenes, the treatment can be as harmful as the heroin
itself. METHADONIA exposes the problems of treating heroin addiction
with legal methadone.

I'm sure it will run several times. I tried to have my husband tape
it but with the modern technologies of digital cable, he said that
you can't tape it for some reason with what we have at home, blah,
blah balh.

See you in December.

Yahoo has made it much easier for us to access the group and I'm
going to provide the 'Reader's Digest Version' here.

1. You do NOT have to have a yahoo address to reach the group.
Repeat you do not have to have a yahoo address to reach the egroup.

2. If you do not have a yahoo address click on this link,
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NCAFP2005/ or cut/paste this
link in order to reach the group. If you have a yahoo address and
can't reach the group email me 1:1 - that's an entirely different
situation. LOL I coudln't resist that.

3. Once there save it as a favorite, so you won't have to keep
finding this email. LOL

4. Once at the egroup site you can send everyone a message by
clicking on <POST> on the left side tool bar. Put a subject in the
subject line and type you email message in the body of the email.

5. You can send individual messages by clicking on <MEMBERS>,
select who you want to send the message to, click on the little
letter box under their name and then type your message. Remember to
<SEND> it after you finish typing.

6. NOTE, there is no spell check (although I don't know why not) in
the message posting area of yahoo.

I hope that this helps. If not email me 1:1.

Peace and blessings,

Hello all....

I am very excited about seeing you this week at the Carolinas Conference on Addiction and Recovery in Chapel Hill.  For details on the conference, directions etc...see www.carolinasconference.com.

Just for the record, everyone is registered and has a bed to sleep in!!!  Lunches and dinners (no breakfasts) are provided.  I have some of your requests for which preconference session you want and I will get the others when you arrive.  There is no activity on Tuesday night but we may make a late night ice cream run!!

The preconference sessions (either Ethics/Infectious Diseases with David Holden and Kathy Norins or Clinical Supervision with David Powell) begin sharply at 9am on Wed.  You will want to arrive early enough to allow for conference check-in.

Note:  I need volunteers to serve as session monitors/speaker assistants for each session.  Please let me know who is willing to do this....not an onerous task, but it will require working with the speaker to make sure all mikes etc...are hooked up, checking attendance etc...Carol Whaley will ride herd on this endeavor.  Thanks for your willingness to serve.  Let me know.

Some of your colleagues may not be getting this email, so please take a few minutes and check-in which them.  Travel safely and come prepared to have fun and continue learning.

Love to each and all of you.

Jim
