Hi everyone,
I am a divorced 40yof with a 9 year old daughter that loves to ride. We
live about 20 or so miles from Jackson and have 6 horses. Most of our
horses are Quarters, that is the breed of choice around here. I am an
RN and looking forward to finding out more about this group and meeting
new horsey friends.
Chris
Welcome to the group! I live in Allegan, we will have to get together this summer and go riding. Thank you for joining. For the most part this is a young group, starting out, and we hope to grow more in 2007. Please feel free to share any time you feel like. Would love to see pics of horses and stuff.
That would be great! Is that you in the picture with the big bay? Nice horse. I was in Allegan a few times in the fall getting our Dobermans ears done at Allegan Animal Hospital. Before that I had no idea where Allegan was. I will post some pictures for you to see.
Thanks again and I'm looking forward to riding with you this summer.

Yes that is me with my mare Precious, she is actually a dark buckskin, the pic doesn't do her justice. I use Allegan Veterinary clinic which is downtown Allegan, Allegan Animal clinic is south of town and that is Dr Main, which I will not comment on ..lol..
I am also on the Allegan County Mounted Patrol, I am 40, will be 41 in August. Licensed EMT and dispatcher, but chose to be a stay at home EMT. My husband is in Afghanistan working as a Remote Tactical Medic for the State Dept.
I am hoping to organize some wilderness training this year at Ionia State Park, it is a very nice park and has a good place to practice water rescues, and wilderness rescues. I wish my husband would be
here as he is a licensed Instructor and the hours would be good for CEU's for those in EMS and Nursing. But he will be in Afghanistan so I will be doing the teaching. Biggest thing we hope to do is safety training when approaching a equine related situation. How to not only treat the patient but the horse as well if it has sustained injuries. How to get both out of the woods safely.
Of course the training will be open to anyone involved with search and rescue or EMS, or equine activities. Plus hope to have entertainment and stuff too.
We shall see.
If you have any friends who are in EMS and have horses feel free to get them to sign up. I am hoping once we reach 20 or
more members to get us recognized as a National Group.
I don't know Dr. Main very well but he actually comes highly recommended on Dobe ears and did a nice job otherwise I wouldn't have driven so far but I do respect your opinion.
Hey, you and I are the same age. The training would be of great value not only to us but to people and thier mounts who may become injured. Sorry to hear that your husband is away, I'm sure it's difficult for you. Well, take care and I hope to talk to you soon.
