Howdy all....
Well I am still on Medical Leave of Absence from the mounted patrol.
For those who weren't aware, I had heart surgery done the beginning
of June. I had a hole in my heart bigger than a nickel. I had to
have an amplatzer device installed to close the hole up.
It will be a good 4-6 months before I am allowed to return. Very
frustrating!
I hope everyone is doing good, and enjoying this lovely summer we are
having.
We are still working on when to have a MFR class. My husband is
still in Afghanistan and doesn't look he will get to return till
2010. So thinking the class will be then, since he is the instructor!
I would like to see this group grow. I know there is a need for us.
As many of the mounted patrols don't actually do SAR. They like
to "practice" and do things when convenient.
I would like to get a real horseback SAR/EMS group started in
Michigan and other states. There is a real need for folks to know
exactly what to do in an emergency. Too many folks out in the woods
don't know basic first aid and many times move a victim. We need to
get word out, and educate our friends, neighbors, family,
etc...please do not move a victim!!!! I have seen it happen a
couple times already this year.
Ok...enough soapbox talk.
We need more photos of members and their horses!
Glad to be back online! Missed you all.
Linda
