Hi All - I was thrilled to be able to join this group!!Thank You!!

My name is Mary, and I live in SW Michigan.I'm 53 yrs young, and
single. I have a Paint & QH breeding farm, and breed/raise
Foundation Paints & QH. I also teach riding lessons, and board
horses on a limited basis. I have been involved with horses/training/
4-H /showing/rodeo/and trail riding for almost 40 yrs now.

I am a Certified Respiratory Therapist and have worked in hospitals
and health care institutions most of my adult life. I am presently
working at 2 Hospitals in SW Michigan, and spend most of my time in
the Emergency Deptartment of a mid-sized hospital on the Lk.
Michigan Shoreline. I have a pretty good background in critical
care/intubation/CPR/phelbotomy, and First aid of all types.

I have done a small amount of search on horseback when asked by our
local Sherrif Dept. and found it to be quite gratifying. I want to
learn much more about rescue---as my background is clinical, and I
do realize everything changes when your out 20 miles from the
nearest hospital/X-ray/Wall O2/suction/etc.!!

I have also read alot of articals on recent disasters and the muscle
and man power it takes to recover horses and other farm animals
after these disasters, and would like input from anyone who has
formed or helped form an emergency preparedness plan for thier
county in regard to rescue of these animals. I am pushing in our
County for such a program, but so far all I've gotten is a nod and a
shrug-LOL!!

Again--Thanks for letting me join--I hope I can be of assistance to
you in answering questions about Horses or RT, and can feel free to
ask questions too.

Thanks Much, Mary
