Current cost (USA) for an eye-exam -- $150 to $400   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #81 of 3935 |

This is truly a "sensitive" area. We ALL must make a living.
I EXPECT to pay for professional services. But I also expect
to be offered a discussion of the preventive second-opinion.

But, for the record, here is a statement of the cost of
an eye-exam.

+++++++++++++

OD> I would expect charge, at least, for the following:

o Comprehensive eye examination
o Contact lens examination
o Follow-up visits

OD> For just the exam fees, I would look on the low end somewhere
around $120.00 and at the high end, you could be looking at $400.00+.

++++++++++++++

I, personally would like to receive a STATEMENT about plus-prevention
when my Snellen is at 20/40 to 20/60 -- and I could POTENTIALLY clear
my Snellen with a plus. I would LIKE OD involvement -- but not from
a person who informs me that "...a minus lens has NO EFFECT on the
refractive STATE of the eye". That is a convenient office fib -- and
THAT is what I object to.
