Re: New To This

Dear Morgan,

I certainly agree that vision-clearing is tough.
It is not easy, not fact -- and requires
that you personally read your Snellen.

These basic charts on on my site -- and I would
print some from i-see (and read them out-doors
in sunlight.

At -1.75 diopters I would suspect that you can
read the 20/70 to 20/80 line. This is not great -- but
it is a start. Be prepared for a long-term effort.

How long have you been wearing that minus?

The HARDEST thing to do is to avoid using it.
If you drive a car, then you must wear it while driving.

For other activities, you can probably get a weaker
minus.

I believe that vision-clearing is possible if you
start the use of a strong plus -- before the minus.
But that minus truly makes the situation very difficult.

The minus-lens tends to be over-prescribed, i.e.,
you read 20/40 -- but get a -1.25 diopter lens.

So read your Snellen -- and put the chart up
in your home. Get a general idea of which
line you can "guess" 1/2 the letters correctly.

The IVAC Snellen is excellent for that purpose.

If you wish to continue -- be prepared to make
the use of the "plus" a habit.

Given your prescription, I would suggest getting
rid of the minus, and use a +1 diopter lens for
all reading at this time.

Do not expect any immediate results. Vision clearing
is like a diet -- it takes time.

Vision normally goes "down" at a rate of -1/2 diopter
per year, so you can expect that getting the
eye to go "up" will be slow.

The ball is now in your court.

Best,

Otis

++++++++++++
