Marilyn, my son was a premie and at six weeks he had a reaction to his first vaccines but I was told it was a normal reaction and he was fine. At one year he was still not sitting or crawling and was diagnosed with hypotonia. We moved (thank god) and the new ped did an MRI and found he has extra fluid on the outside of his brain (external hydrocephalus) He had what looked like brain atrophy (but that has improved) diffuse (all over) demyelination, enlarged ventricles. The neuro at the time gave us the diagnoses as follows: Global developmental delay, Macrocephaly, External Hydrocephalus, Cerebral demyelination of uncertain etiology (what I know what caused it Vaccines) Encephalopathy, Moderate spastic diplegia cerebral palsy (only because he went from hypo to hyper tonia, he does not show any signs of CP now). He was later diagnosed by a developmental ped
and psych with Sensory integration disorder, Apraxia and Autistic disorder with hyperlexia. The speech path diagnosed Dysphagia and Dysarthria. So we see the DAN for all these issues, lol. He gave us the diagnosis of Toxic encephalopathy. It has been about two years since his formal diagnoses and one year since we start down the biomed path. He is doing amazing in my book. They orginally thought he may not ever walk but he did at a little over two years old and now I can't keep up. We also see a geneticist and have ruled out a lot of things but they suspect mitochondrial which we technically are already treating with a mito cocktail per his DAN! from his lab results. Let me know if you have any questions or I can help you in any way.
