I'll have to try again to get it in him. If he doesn't drink his drinks with it--oh well--it isn't doing him any good in the cabinet anyway! What do you mix it in? This is where the self limiting with foods and drinks really makes things tough.Kristin-------------- Original message --------------

Mickie so far doesn't care about the taste, but it does smell.
Thiamine is also good to get rid of Cadmium, which is another reason I have him take it.

I have a bottle of Thiamine sitting in my kitchen. The tase and smell is so bad that my son will not come anywhere near it. When I opened a capsule my husband was across the kitchen and asked what I was doing because the smell was so bad. I know there is a cream. (Can't remember the name off the top of my head.) It still smells bad but at least you don't have to taste it! I have not tried it yet though.Kristin-------------- Original message --------------

Subject: B complex Vitamins - Pediatric Oncall Beri Beri cure:: THIAMIN Vit. B1Thiamine is also known as Anti-beriberi vitamin. Deficiency of thiamine leads to a condition called as Beriberi. Beriberi is of 2 types:

- Dry Beriberi which predominantly affects the nervous system and leads to irritability, fatigue, headache, calf muscle pain, difficulty in standing from sitting position, constipation, slow growth and gradual wasting. Patient on examination is found to have neuritis. In infants, it may lead to tremors, convulsions and squint.
- Wet Beriberi affects the heart, predominantly and leads to palpitations, a fast pulse, breathlessness and swelling over the feet. In infants (children less than 1 year of age) in addition leads to shrill cry, vomiting and bluish hue to the skin.
In addition, in infants a third-type of Beriberi may occur which is known as Aphonic Beri Beri in which the infant presents with hoarse cry which then leads to absent voice and finally may lead to breathlessness and swelling over the body.
