Re: [SPAM]Re: [Mito] halloween

I know I'm replying this a little late.  We just got back last night from our summer place and haven't checked emails for two weeks.  Yikes, lots to catch up on.

Anyway, we've gone the purchased Halloween costumes and other times homemade costumes.  Leah wants to be another Digimon character, this one with extra arms, etc.  She gets very excited about Halloween.  She is in a wheelchair so can't get up to the doors of many homes.  But our neighbor girl is always so good about going up the door with Leah's bucket.  She explains to them she is helping some one who can't get up the steps when they comment on two buckets.  We go several blocks.  When it is cold out we don't go long because Leah can't handle the cold.  She starts to cry and just wants to go home.  But she gets certain candy to eat (little candy bars and M & M's) the rest of the candy mom and her brothers get to eat.  We mix all the candy together in a bucket and "share" the rewards of trick or treating.  She is already looking at Halloween books and telling us we need to make her costume now!!  But she also holds up two fingers knowing halloween was two months away.  I'll try to get a photo to send to the group of her costume and past costumes.

I pulled Jude in a wagon and let him collect all the candy for two years.  Then when we got home, I told hiim I would trade him the candy for balls, which he loves.  Since he's never had candy, he's never wanted it.  Sometimes if there's cake or some other treat, I'll buy the little organic Sesame St. cookies, they have low sugar and for an occasional treat it works perfect.  Three cookies and he's so thrilled.

Question? My husband wants to take our daughter who is 18 months out for Halloween. I was wondering how you ladies handled the problem of heat and unable to eat.

I like the homemade costumes, but, our grocery store has a whole section of halloween candy on the shelves already!!!  Man, with the economy being down, they have to milk each event for all they can get!!  It just makes it even harder for me to navigate thru the store with my two kids, trying to buy whats on my list, and telling them NO CANDY, NO CANDY!!! over and over again!  I try to avoid that isle, but my daughter knows where it is!! eeesh!!  There's not enough $$$$ for everything already, and now they want to sell Halloween candy????   Diane
