Hello,
The Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) will be hosting a “Train-the-Trainer” event on May 14, 2009 from 10am-3:30pm at its office located at 4809 Woodward Ave., Detroit, MI. The event will be used to train those interested in becoming trainers for the Empowerment Education: Consumer-Driven Training for Michigan Direct Support Professionals Project (www.ddi.wayne.edu/empowerment_education.php).
Since 1997, Empowerment Education has provided free training to over 16,000 direct support professionals and consumers in almost every county in the state. This outreach is only accomplished with the help of our trainers. Empowerment Education trainers reside throughout the state of Michigan and conduct training opportunities in their hometowns and surrounding area.
We are looking for individuals interested in becoming trainers for their area or region. You will find a save-the-date flyer, an invitation letter, trainer description and application attached to this email. Please feel free to pass this information along to anyone you feel would be interested in becoming an Empowerment Education trainer.
For more information, please email or call Michael Bray at mikebray@... or (313) 577-6684.
Thank you,
Michael Bray
