TURMEL: Guinness Record Quadruple Election Campaign continues   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2386 of 2512 |

JCT: Having run for mayor of Ottawa half a dozen times, for
premier of Ontario in 1981 with my Social Credit party, for
prime minister of Canada in 1993 when my Abolitionist party
ran one candidate more than the Greens -- if there were ever
an election for president of the planet or prime minister of
the planet, all know who the first candidate would be." I
announced I was starting that race earlier this year.

Yesterday, Sep 22 2008, I registered in my 68th public
election in Guelph after the previous Sep 8 byelection was
aborted by the call for the general election. So I am now
contesting my 68th but have only lost 66.

The only recent story:

TF: Speaking of elections . . .

Guelph voters may not have seen the last of Independent
candidate John Turmel. He called the paper Monday and we
chatted for some time.

Among other things, we discussed his latest CRTC complaint
filed against Rogers and CPAC, the cable stations that
filmed the Chamber of Commerce debate last month. I'm not
entirely sure what the content of that complaint is, but
it's safe to say it had to do with Turmel's police escort
out the door after he took the floor during the debate,
holding court on his right to be there.

JCT: I posted my letter of complaint at my blog:
http://yahoogroups.com/group/turmel/message/3480

TF: He also mentioned he hadn't decided where to run in the
upcoming federal election. Most politicians have to decide
IF they're going to run, but for Turmel, I guess the
question is only where.

JCT: Absolutely.

TF: His home riding is Brantford, but Turmel, who ran in
Guelph's byelection, isn't happy with being left out of
several debates there. He told me "Guelph is looking good"
for his 68th consecutive election campaign because he was
allowed to participate in all but one of the debates.

JCT: And this time, maybe the Chamber of Commerce won't host
one.

TF: I'm not quite sure what to think of Turmel and his
platform, but he might be able to teach these old dogs some
new tricks about showmanship.

JCT: Sure I win on showmanship. But I also win on the
substance of my platform at
http://www.cyberclass.net/turmel/abprogs.htm

TF: I'm not saying any of the candidates need to shout from
the rafters to be noticed, but it would be nice if all the
candidates from all the parties in Guelph wanted to come to
all the debates. If you know what I mean.
Lipstick is, of course, optional.

JCT: So I spent Sunday getting my 100 signatures and
registered in the Guelph election yesterday, the very last
day. Surprise!

Then I went over to the Mercury, called up to their news
desk and asked if anyone wanted to interview me about my
candidacy. One guy said he'd ask around to see if anyone was
interested and eventually, a reporter came down.

I told him I came to Guelph because the police had prevented
me from participating in four (4) Brantford elections the
last time and I was expecting them to make it even harder
this time. In Guelph, I was only excluded twice and the
second time, they preferred to add a chair than call the
police to have me removed. This election, maybe the Guelph
Chamber of Commerce won't host another undemocratic debate.

I pointed out how in the Sheila Copps federal Hamilton East
byelection in 1996, I kept saying I didn't need to get
elected, I only needed someone to pick up the LETS software
and do it yourselves. Exactly one month to the day after the
Jun 18 Ottawa Sun "Super Loser Fails Again" article, the
Hamilton Spectator announced the Hamilton Self-Help group
was starting up a Hamilton LETS. Mission accomplished.

I pointed out that there used to be a Guelph LETS and my
mission was to get the University of Guelph Society of
Student Engineers to offer online LETS timebanking for all
Guelph students, spreading to every other university with
any computer competence, and for all Guelph residents too.

As for the US presidential election between Democrat Matt
Santos and Republican Arnold Vinnick on TV's West Wing, the
Canadian Learning Channel's summer run is ended without the
final episodes but I did catch the "candidates' debate"
into which I will insert my answers as if this were just one
of my regular debates.

As for the US presidential election between Democrat Barack
Obama and Republican John McCain in real life, they will be
having their first "candidates' debate" this Friday into
which I will insert my answers like my real debates.

Finally, I'll record my real debates as a candidate in
Guelph. Then, as the leader of the Abolitionist Party of
Canada who never got invited to the "leaders' debate" of
parties favored by Big Brother media in 1993, I'll tape this
leaders' debate which is also including only the parties
favored by Big Brother media and insert the answers of the A
Abolitionist Party to the questions.

So even though most Canadian voters viewing the answers of
the party leaders won't be getting the full picture, some on
the internet will be getting at least a fuller picture. And
if other party leaders chose to participate in the same way,
who knows how many people might visit the net to see what
the excluded parties have to say even if they were denied
the right pursuant to Canadian "democratic" principles.

And of course, John The Engineer have to solve
international issues that now frustrate the rest of the low-
tech politicians of the world in the race for Chief Engineer
of the Planet.

Anyway, stay tuned for John The Engineer making fun of the
low-tech opponents in their incompetent exertions against
problems happening where they're not looking like the
proverbial drunk looking for his lost keys under the lamp-
post because that's where he can best see.

The mixing of the media may be crude but I think it's going
to make this quadruple elections campaign a lot of fun.
