Four system players (A, B, C & D) spend about 1 hour each playing on two
different generic systems S1 & S2 with the following outcome:
Player S1 S2
A W W
B W L
C L W
D L L
Mixed remarks by the players:
A: "The systems were damn good & I really had a good time! Or was it just me
being lucky?"
B: "Overall I'm up. S1 works.......but I wouldn't bother playing with that
stupid S2 system ever again!!!!"
C: "S1 is crap! Thank goodness, I broke even using S2. I think S2 has
potential based on my winnings so far"
D: "A real bummer! These two systems didn't perform up to my expectation at
all.....?!?"
Assuming everybody told the truth, which is a better system then?
Answer: Neither is better than the other.
Everyday we hear people winning & losing. For every new winning system, it
attracts a lot of attention, maybe ten other people would try it out.
However when a losing system is reported, people will be reluctant to look
back & the system will eventually become a forgotten past. And then some
argues that we need to do a few hundred thousand test spins to convince the
effectiveness of a system but as we all know this will eventually fail
sooner or later!
When someone hits the jackpot or won the top lottery prize, it is because he
was lucky. There is no other way to explain this other than to acknowledge
it all boils down to luck. If not for luck, there will be no business left
for the casino. Our present society today seems to accept that luck exist
even though the skeptics may think otherwise. There are two forms of luck:
1) Luck based on timing (already discussed before)
2) Luck based on feeling
First of all the thrill of stepping into a casino can falsely make a person
feel very lucky. That is why he is willing to take risk because he believes
that he will win. After all who would play if there is no chance of winning?
And that feeling of luck is magnified by one's own belief & expectation
(gamblers hope to win, not lose). Also the environment settings of a casino
have to be conducive to invite more people in & to make them stay longer
while feeling good.
However that feeling can change with an individual depending on location
(e.g. different table or casino) or the surrounding people (i.e blending
with the other auras). Perhaps you noticed that sometimes you don't feel
easy with a particular croupier or another hostile player that has just
arrived at your table.
Luck feeling can also change with timing while everything else remain the
same. If you no longer feel good then that's an inner calling for you to get
out of there. When you ignore this advice & lose, it will really hurt around
your heart region. In fact after a series of bad sessions you would seem to
have run out of luck. That feeling afterwards is really awful, isn't it?
This greater pain is not because you've lost money rather it's due to you
going against yourself.......
