RE: [Martha_E_Rogers] message from Richard via Fran/Rorry

Just by way of sharing some insight since relatively few people will be familiar
with the area...

Richard used to live about 1/2 block from me in Richmond. I actually bought my
house there because it was 1/2 block from where Richard was living at the time.

When they moved, the house that he and Joe bought was in a very, very nice area
just south and on a hill a few blocks from the James River. It is a very quiet,
friendly, and warm community - one of the nicest areas in Richmond as far as I
am concerned. It is the kind of place that you would feel comfortable walking
through at night and most certainly the kind of place where even an old New
Yorker like me would never think twice about leaving my doors open. People never
failed to wave as I drove to Richard's house and for an urban area one could ask
for little more in terms of peacefulness, serenity, and friendliness.

The house across the street, like Richard and Joe's and all the houses in the
neighborhood is a beautiful place with a lovely yard and nice people.

Violence of course is never comprehensible but it is even more inexplicable for
that oasis than just about anyplace I can imagine.

bear
