Personally, it does not feel right for me to contact Richard just now, he

Our dear neighbors across the street were brutally murdered on New Years Day.
Bryan and Kathy Harvey were the parents of Stella and Ruby. Stella was 9 and
Ruby was 4. Someone bound them with tape and cut their throats and then set
the house on fire. My granddaughter, Rebecca, who is 6 went over to play with
Stella and smoke was seen coming from the house. We called 911 and the
firefighters discovered the bodies in the basement. The police think the
murders were committed between 10 am and 1:30 pm - Kathy was seen with Stella
at 10 am. I was working in the front yard and Rebecca was riding her scooter
during some of this time. The Harveys lived right across the street.

Some of the investigators spent the morning at our house talking with us and
then the girls. A child counselor was brought in to work with my
granddaughters and the little girl who lives next door - they were all together
on our front porch during the firefighting efforts and they were close to
Stella - they did lemonade stands together and went between the three houses on
weekends to play. There will be a counselor working with the girls over the
next 10 weeks.

We are all devastated and the neighborhood is in shock. Even though the police
are telling us this is not random and that there is likely some personal
connection, everyone is very anxious and afraid. I cannot sleep thinking about
what these sweet people went through and the recurring thought that my
granddaughter could have gone over to the house sooner. I cannot believe I was
just yards away from this going on - and did not hear or see anything - in the
middle of the day in broad daylight!!! I am just sick about it all.

I cannot really think clearly right now - please contact me during the
beginning of next week and we will work something out.

Rorry, will you share this information in whatever form you'd like with the
Rogerian list and to send their love to these people.
