I thought some of you may appreciate being able to read this from today's paper.
I understand that there is also an Obit in New York Times, but am unable to
locate it, can anybody help?

Dr. Helen Joanne King Griffin
Member of NYU nursing faculty, 77 Dr. Helen Joanne King Griffin, 77, of New York
City died Saturday at her daughter's home in Stillwater. A Funeral Mass will be
held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph's Church, 371 6th Ave., New
York City. Family visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, at
507 E. 6th St. Arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-McCracken
Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ. Born April 19, 1931, in Brooklyn,
N.Y., to Helen and John King, Dr. Griffin later moved to Merrick, Long Island.
She attended St. Agnes School in Rockville Center and then studied nursing at
The College of Mount St. Vincent. Dr. Griffin practiced nursing in Hempstead and
San Francisco, then returned to New York City to complete her MA and Ph.D. in
nursing at New York University. She was a member of the NYU nursing faculty for
40 years until her retirement in 2006. A member of the Society of Rogerian
Scholars and Sigma
Theta Tau, Dr. Griffin was a founding faculty member of CUNY's Bronx Community
College Nursing Department, where she met her husband, Gerald Joseph Griffin.
They built rich personal and professional lives together until Gerry's death in
March 1989. They had four daughters, Mary Hope, Jerilyn "Cinder", Maura, and
Jennie. Dr. Griffin is survived by her daughters; sons and daughters-in-laws,
Clayton Thomason, Erich Miller, and Sarah Trehearn; grandchildren, Helen, Julia,
Bennett, Eleanor, Abigail, and Griffin; a brother, Thomas H. King, and his wife,
Teena; nephews John, Michael, and Paul King; and five great nieces and nephews.

In case you haven't gotten the information from Caring Bridge, it is as
follows:

Instead of a wake, there will be a visitation on Friday, Feb. 6th from 4-7
at a restaurant, the Oriental Grill, at 507 E. 6th Street between Ave. A and
B. All are welcome. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 7th at St.
Joseph's Church at 371 Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave.) at the corner of
Washington Place at 2:30.

As you will be aware, Joanne was a very significant figure in Rogerian
