This is a message from Dr. Joanne Griffin, retired NYU nursing
professor, who has been diagnosed with bladder cancer. I had emailed
her about sharing her situation with others who care. Here is her
reply. Thanks for being there!
"I am glad you contacted Dee (in particular) and anyone else who is
willing/able to send whatever healing help my way...I can use all the
help I can get. I admit that once I decided that I was going to do
something to try to deal with this cancer, then it seemed to me that I
need to listen to what the physicians were recommending and unless it
sounded absolutely irrational, go along with it...but it is sure major
surgery and scares the daylights out of me. On the other hand, what
choice do I really have at this point? So having a major support
network like you guys all working for me can only help. And I know it
will help my other support networks as well. In fact as I came to in
the recovery room after the cystoscopy, there was a TT nurse, doing
her thing for me, and caring...name is cathy and i can't remember last
name, but she knew me and had just come back from Pumpkin Hollow, so
who could have asked for anything more?So let Dee know about that too,
please.I do know that
time and space are , for me, irrelevant, but when I know when the
surgery will be, I will let you know and I will be comforted by
knowing that you all are on my side...I think that will help me deal
with some of my fear...I know it will."
PS An update on Alicia Waite, my aunt's granddaughter who was hit by a
truck while riding her bike. She is mostly in a wheelchair as the Fx
leg heals, but down to a below-the-knee cast (purple!) She will be
able to start high school, and play her flute in the band with friends
transporting her in her wheelchair. Thanks for your healing--and your
follow-up inquiries. What special people I am blessed to know!!!! Dottie
