Dear Margaret, thanks for your input. The problem is that hardly anybody (even among the highest evolved Lightworkers) is able to detach her/himself to such an extent that no personal energies are being transmitted along with the Divine healing energies of Love. But the purer and higher spiritual the channel, the purer, stronger and higher vibrational the transmitted energies will be.

Dear Elizabeth,
My own humble opinion is that we are all here on earth to learn some lessor or another, whether we think of ourselves as enlightened or not. I believe that if healing is done in love there can never be any harm as it all comes from the Divine Source.
It is true that there are many unscrupulous people around and I suspect that those who they attempt to heal have in some way in their soul path agreed to this and again is a learning curve for both parties. No one person is greater than another, only the journeys that souls have travelled may have given them more insight than those who are setting out on a slower and newer path.
For those who truly belive that they can help others with whichever healing they have; be it learnt or natural, with their egos aside and realising that they are merely channels of God, then I say go for it and don't let others dissuade you from trying your best for others.
