The demise of Atlantis took "many millennia" together with three catastrophic events, beginning with a large axis shift, which caused the sinking of Mu, and ending with a much smaller axis shift some twenty-eight to thirty-three thousand years later. During the first shift, about one third of the northern area of Atlantis sank. At that same time, according to Moon, "...within the other continents of Earth, many sections broke apart and some were consumed by the sea."
The second devastation was not as a result of natural planetary upheavals, but was created by the Atlantean scientists. It happened sometime between twelve and seventeen thousand years after the first axis shift. The Atlanteans had already reached the pinnacle of their civilization and were moving into a decline. There was much unrest between the scientist class and the lower classes, and a civil war started. The scientists used powerful crystalline technology within their weapons and this resulted in tremendous geological disturbances that literally destroyed the eastern part of the continent and broke the western part into two sections.
So now the large continent of Atlantis had dwindled down to the size of two islands. Moon explained that the larger one was situated not far from the coast of present-day Portugal and the smaller one lay further to the north. These two islands remained stable for another sixteen thousand years, but a slight axis shift at that time destroyed the larger one, while the smaller island survived, but was broken into two. Moon then revealed that today we know this land as the British Isles, and he reminded me that he had previously said these Isles will sink during the next axis shift. At the time I channeled this information, I was aware that some people believed in the existence of Atlantis, but I did not wholeheartedly go along with this theory. I also knew that the Azores were thought to be the possible remains of this continent, but I had never heard of my homeland as being yet another part. Moon's message on the disintegration of the eastern area also seemed contrary to his information about the British Isles being a part of Atlantis. It seemed to me that it would only make sense if the western section of Atlantis had disintegrated.
Several years after receiving Moon's early messages about the location of Atlantis, I read about some underwater remains of what appeared to be roads and buildings being found close to Bimini. It was speculated that these proved the existence of Atlantis. For me, this discovery made Moon's words even more unbelievable because for both to be true, Atlantis must have stretched all the way across the Atlantic. However, time has taught me to not dismiss Moon's information when it appears to be incorrect or too outrageous. On many occasions his teachings have proved themselves to be true. With regards Atlantis, much more recently I have learned that it is thought in the far distant past this continent was joined to Central America by means of a land bridge. Eventually, this connection was severed, possibly through erosion by the sea. Then much later, due to continental drift and the Atlantean cataclysmic events, the above-water remains ultimately lay close to the European continent.
Moon's story of Atlantis continued. He said in the earlier years of their development, Atlanteans explored much of the earth and brought back to their homeland anything that was needed or of significance to them. This included capturing and enslaving many people with whom they came in contact. These individuals were of different races to that of the Atlanteans, therefore, they considered them less than their equals and did not cohabit with them.
Once they had exhausted their interest in the world that surrounded them, they looked towards space. They were able to achieve interplanetary travel and created communities on Mars, Jupiter and Saturn. Moon added that when we acquire the technical ability to travel to these other planets within our Solar System, we will find some remnants of their population expansion to those planets.
Over the millennia, certain Atlanteans migrated to South America. Moon said this land was much larger then and had stretched well into the Atlantic Ocean. Yet other Atlanteans established communities on Antarctica which was free from the ice. Ultimately, they blended in with the lives of the people who were already living there and who were descended from those who escaped the earlier sinking of Mu.
As already expressed, by the time of the second partial destruction of Atlantis, her civilization had peaked and was in a state of decline. Ongoing communication with Atlantean descendants on other planets had ceased and everyday life became centered on the future of what remained of this once large and flourishing continent. Over the millennia, some of the inhabitants of the surrounding land masses had also established themselves on these two islands.
During the remaining few thousand years of Atlantean existence, the scientists tried to rediscover some of their lost technology, while also keeping secure what had remained. As time passed, they looked for methods of maintenance and preservation of all their knowledge and technical achievements. They did this because they were certain Atlantean days were numbered. For them the most devastating aspect of this doomsday scenario was the loss of their technology and advanced form of life. They could not envisage a world without such learning.
As the final thousand years of the existence of Atlantis passed, her most powerful and influential scientists held several meetings to discuss how they could preserve their technology, beliefs and wisdom. Due to their scientific knowledge and what Moon called "mastery of psychic abilities," they knew that the final destruction of Atlantis was inevitable. They also made the decision to relocate any remaining industries from the smaller island to the larger one. It was reasonable to presume that the smaller one would disintegrate sooner than the larger island. Once this was done, there was a gradual lessening of communication between the two and, eventually, the Atlanteans living on the smaller island were left undisturbed to continue their lives in whatever way they chose.
They became a community who lived off the land and lived simple, technology-free existences. This was in stark contrast to their previous lives. However, some of the customs and teachings that had been given to them by the priest class prevailed. Moon said their rural, down-to-earth lives were interspersed with the more lavish celebrations of the old Atlantean religion. As century followed century, their culture did not progress, but slowly reverted into barbarism. By the time the larger island disappeared, their glorious heritage was gone and only faint whisperings of it could be seen in their rituals of an ancient and no longer understood religion...
...Going back to his explanation of how Egypt became an Atlantean satellite state and ultimately its successor, Moon told me that a plan-of-action was orchestrated whereby certain Atlantean individuals traveled to various parts of the world. They were in the business of looking for suitable heirs to the technological wealth and wonders of Atlantis. It took several hundred years before a community of primitive people, who were living in the Nile basin, were chosen. They were "the descendants of a group of marauding, white nomads who had finally settled in this fertile region..."
