    First of all, I'm glad I am not alone and I'm quite disappointed that I'm not alone. You would think that in a profession, desperate for more MT's to help pick up the slack, that the industry would somehow make a consorted effort to hire new MT's who have made the sacrifice to be hired and somehow trained. I'm not offering a solution, just venting. I spent a great deal of time (spare time I don't really have) and invested quite a bit of money (money I don't really have, either) to get in on the "ground floor" as a MT only to find that I am on my own and that no one will hire me. Of course, the longer it takes, the more I lose what I learned. This industry is a joke and those MT's out there who are so "desperate" for relief, will not take the time to reach out and properly introduce anyone. Those MT's out there now just happened by chance to end up transcribing in their old job and eventually gain their experience. Otherwise, schooling was a waste of time and no one out there cares. Yes, I am mad and I challenge anyone in the MT world to prove me wrong! Good luck to you, Susan and the other stuck newbies out here. Is there anyone out there to help us get out of this hole before you all retire and start needing replacements?

    Regular Full-Time Transcriptionist - Medical Transcription (Mayo Clinic Scottsdale - Arizona)

    Position Overview:
    Medical transcriptionist interprets and transcribes dictation in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services. A medical transcriptionist demonstrates commitment to quality and excellence with internal and external customers. Requires independent thinking and action necessary to provide competent and professional support to meet the needs of patients, physicians and other health care providers, administrators, coworkers, and others.

    Education/Experience/Specifications:
    High school education or GED equivalent Minimum 1 year of medical transcription experience (multi-specialty preferred). Certified Medical Transcriptionist certification preferred Successful completion of a Mayo medical transcription test required. Strong knowledge of computers, word processing software, and dictation/transcription equipment. Well developed interpersonal, written and oral communication, and organizational skills required. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles Excellent eye, hand coordination and auditory capacity.

    Days: M-F. Hours Per Week: 40.
