NEWS AND VIEWS :
------------------------
1) Transcriptionists to face overhaul

With concerns growing about transcriptionists' role in keeping patient
information secure, the American Association of Medical Transcription is
launching an initiative to protect confidentiality and set other quality
benchmarks.

The professional organization, which had its 26th annual exposition and
convention in September, is attempting to respond to concerns that arose
last year over highly publicized incidents involving foreign
transcriptionists, said Peter Preziosi, the organization's executive
director.

The AAMT also is beginning to redefine the profession in light of the rise
of the use of electronic clinical information. The new initiatives come as
the healthcare industry is beginning to implement electronic health records
on a broader basis.

"We're looking at how to begin to reposition and create new value for
transcriptionists in an electronic environment," Preziosi said.
"Transcriptionists are finding themselves in the middle of data capture and
they need to begin to look at their practice. We will step up a lot of the
education and training to get prepared for this."

3) Philips MedQuist unit says reports were unreliable

Electronic medical transcription company MedQuist, majority-owned by Dutch
group Philips Electronics, said on Tuesday that earnings reports it filed in
2002 and 2003 were unreliable. "Forms 10-Q filed during 2002 and 2003, and
all earnings releases and similar communications relating to such periods,
should no longer be relied upon," the MedQuist board of directors said in a
statement. "Quantifying the effect ... on the company's financial condition
and results of operations may not occur in the immediately foreseeable
future," it added.

Philips, which acquired a 71 percent stake in MedQuist in 2000 for 1.34
billion euros ($1.70 billion), said in a separate statement it is still
trying to evaluate the value of the stake. "Philips has not been able to
complete its goodwill impairment test of the MedQuist investment in 2004.
Philips intends to perform an evaluation of the value of its investment in
MedQuist before year end on the basis of all information available at that
time," it said in a statement.

4) STPI Imphal Centre ready for operation

Everything is ready for inauguration of the STPI Imphal Centre, according to
a reliable source.

Many potential customers like institutions, firms and private individuals
have also applied for buying space at the Centre, though it has not yet
started functioning, the source disclosed.

In fact, the Manipur Data System (MDS), which is catering to the need of
medical transcription (MT) has already booked the third floor of the
building for its use, the source said.

5) AMA Technology Summit Showcases ZyDoc EMR

According to the AMA, "Physicians in practice today are compelled to
implement electronic medical records to improve clinical quality, enhance
efficiencies, and augment financial performance in their practices. However,
discerning what vendor and system to purchase based on the unique objectives
of the practice can be overwhelming given the many choices available. In
some instances, making the right selection can be career defining. The
investment and risk are both substantially high, and success with EMR can be
challenging and time consuming."

Jim Maisel, M.D., Chairman of ZyDoc explains, "ZyDoc is delighted to have
our unique, award winning EMR solutions recognized by the AMA."
