The eleventh annual "Governor's Fire Prevention
Day" will take place on Friday, August 28, 2009, once again
bringing the fire safety message to over 100,000 people in a single day. It is
a fun-filled, action-packed event, offering opportunities for families to learn
about fire-safe behavior, fire prevention, safe escape from a fire, as well as
technological improvements in burn treatment and firefighting equipment. Fair
goers can pick up a map of Governor's Day events at the Information Booths, and
at any of the fire safety exhibits.

DNR fire safety lessons - DNR building.

Many other organizations and volunteers are on hand to
teach fairgoers where to find training to become a firefighter,
demonstrate equipment used in the fire service, teach families how to
escape safely from their homes in the event of a fire, proper use
of fire extinguishers, and how to prepare themselves for an
emergency.
The Governor's Council on Fire Prevention and Control
is the overall host of the event. It is the belief of this Council
that fire prevention efforts brought to the public in an interesting
and fun way will help to reduce the amount of injury and death due
