I fought all year last year for someone to listen to me about what meds
I needed to treat it, but nobody wanted to listen. When I had to be cut
open in the ER of FEB 06, I started telling the Dr there that I needed
IV Vanco and the mesh needed to be removed, but they didn't want to
listen to me ... I'm just the patient.
I spent the next 9, yes .... NINE months dealing with an open abdominal
wound that had to be cleaned and packed everyday. At one point I was
getting so desperate that I was thinking that the only way I would get
what I NEEDED, to get better would be to stop taking care of the wound
so I would get sick but I wasn't ready to put my life that much more in
danger!
So the wound closed up after all sorts of antiobiotics, NOT Vanco ...
after 9 months!
So here is is a new year, and I was out shoping with Moms and I noticed
that my stomack was wet ... it had come open on its own this time! So
... off to the ER I go again. The doc opens me up and cleans out the
gunk and sends me to the wound clininc. I was surprised when not only
the ER doc, but also the would clinic doc BOTH said that the mess needs
to come out. THANKS ... FINALLY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS what they are dealing
with!!!
But since I don't have health insurance at the moment, unless I become
acutely ill ... they will have to wait until I am able to afford it on
my own or have health insurance.
So ... for the time being, they are just treating the wound. Its looking
good and is healing really good ... but I just wish that I could be done
with this!!!
