I got out of the hospital day before yesterday after being diagnosed
with MRSA. I had an accident and banged my knee on an attic pull
down which later became infected. I went to the hospital about a
week later because the swelling and pain became so severe I couldn't
take much more. I was imedietely addmitted into ICU and stayed there
for 8 days in severe pain and almost lost my life the Doctors later
told me. The infection had spread to the bone and into my blood. I
had several IV's of different antibiotics and had to go through
several sessions of being pressurized in oxygen because the
infection seemed to not like oxygen. I eventully became stable and
had to under go several opperations to remove the infected tissue
and to replace the open areas with new tissue. I spent 19 days in
the hospital, constantly being pumped with morphine, fluids, and
antibiotics. While I was suffering through the infection I was also
dianosed with a heart murmmer caused by congestion around my heart.
I had 2 ekg's, 2 ultrasounds , and more medication. I took pictures
of my leg in the different stages while all this was taking place.
Most of which are very graphic. Im now confined to a wheelchair with
several staples and stitches in my calf. The pain is still quite
unbearable as it is healing slowly. I figure it will be months
before I will ever walk again. This is the third outbreak of staph I
had this year. But this is the most severe. I am now terrified of
another outbreak. I'm mentaly and physically scared for life. I
don't think I can handle another outbreak. Im really having a very
hard time dealing with all this now and its breaking me down
mentally.
