The answer to this is as follows:
1- Were you treated with antibiotics, perhaps broad spectrum
antibiotics probably IV in the hospital and oral later. If so then
hopefully it was completly eliminated and hopefully you won't get it
again.
2- However, it is possible that you may have another underlying
condition that predisposes you too staph. These conditions can
sometimes be extremelly difficult to diagnose. Such as in my case. I
most likely have subcutaneous T Cell Lymphoma. Which is kind of like
leukemia in the skin, but it also affects other areas. So I'm prone to
staph, but I've only had it once.
3- So you should try not to cut yourself and if you do use proper
wound care, etc. Get plenty of sleep(important for the immune system),
make lifestyle changes if you drink etc. And consider taking a above
average probiotic routine in pill form. These are the only steps right
now to take. Obviously you'd probably want to avoid sex for a while
till your better, and if he says not to have sex with that person don't
