oxacillin resistant?   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #18 of 2520 |
Hi I have a question. I am having trouble with a MRSA concept and
don't know where to find the answer. I was told I have MRSA. Staph
which is resistant to many antibiotics... I know of two other people
who have staph conditions and were told it was not MRSA because
theirs isn't resistant to oxacillin. There is no O in MRSA. Can it
still be called MRSA if it isn't resistant to oxacillin? I am
confused as their doctors both tell them that their staph is
resistant to many penicillins and antibiotics but it is not MRSA
because it isn't resistant to oxacillin? Please help........ Thanks
