The car seat that we just got for Micah is an Evenflo Triumph Advance LX. It is wide like a lazy boy, in the backward position it tips back far enough so that we are not struggleing to keep Micah's body in the seat. At the top where the head rest usually is, it is open so that there are no other peices pushing the neck forward, and there is enough room for us to put his sleepy time head rest (that we use all the time). I think that you have to have a semi big car/area for this car seat to fit. It is quite large. We drive a Pontiac Vibe and it fits in there pretty well. I think it holds up to 40-50lb yet I am not totally sure on that. We looked all over our area for a seat that would work for a while for him and this one seems like it will do the trick. We did buy an Eddie Baur eddtion seat and found (when we got it home and put Micah in it) that the head rest pushed forward sending Micah's head down. (he is blessed with floppy head, as many of our children are). Anyway, I know that there are other seats that you can get in Europe that do not exsist over here in the US. I hope that you are able to find something for your girl Maddie. Finding proper equiptment for Micah has been one of my deepest irritations.
I hope that your new year is well and that your search for the worlds best car seat leaves you happy and not drained.
blessings to you and hugs to Maddie...xoxoxo

Hi everyone,Alison - so sorry to hear about Niall's dad, it must have been such a shock. We too are coping with the imminent loss of a loved one. Steve's mum has had terminal ovarian cancer for 3 years now & has been battling hard, but she has little time left (maybe days, maybe a couple of weeks), & she moves into a hospice tomorrow for pain relief. Why these things have to happen over xmas I do not know, but it seems we all have so much to contend with.My heart also goes out to Bianca's parents, that is such sad, sad news.Christmas was a strange one this year - my brother came to stay (as my family is spread out across the world - sister in Australia, mum in bali...). Steve took Maddie to see his mum for half the day, as she was too weak to make it to ours, & too tired to contend with too many visitors. It was strange being at home & Maddie not being there, but I'm glad she got to see her nan. She was an angel all day - just as with you Laura, it was a far cry from last year. Last xmas, Maddie cried/screamed all day, & we had both sets of parents over. One person had to sit with her the whole time, meaning we couldn't eat tea together. This year, she seemed so much happier. However, she has got herself into a very bad sleeping pattern (for no apparent reason) - she no does not go to sleep until around midnight at the earliest (often around 2 or 3am!) I have been off work for xmas, so it has been ok, but I start again on weds, so am dreading that!!!Maddie got lots of presents - mainly clothes & a few toys, as she pas so little attention to toys. We finally got her DLA sorted, meaning we can afford her car seat - yay!! Rachel - you said you had recently bought a good one for Micah - what was it called again? We are also going to buy a double buggy next week, as it's only 6 weeks til the new baby arrives. I can't wait - I am so fed up of being pregnant! I get lots of probs with my pelvis when pregnant, leaving me in quite a lot of pain. Plus, I can't old Maddie which I hate - be so glad to give her a big hug again! I am worried about the birth though, as without Steve's mum, we have nobody to look after Maddie. That means Steve will have to look after her, & I will have to labour on my own, which is not a nice prospect. i know Steve wants to be there too. We are hoping to get a date to be induced so perhaps we can organise something (& maybe bring the date forward so Steve's mum gets to see the new baby), but I know it's unlikely.I was just wondering about your little ones & crying. Maddie cries a lot, for what seems like no reason. It's nowhere near as bad as it used to be, but it's still 1 or 2 hours most days. It doesn't appear to be related to feeding, needing the toilet etc (we know when it's on of those things, she has a specific cry for each). I know special needs children often cry a lot, so was just curious if your little ones did too.Anyway, I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the holiday season - we're having a quiet new year, I'm too fat for anything anyway!!Take care everyone,Love Nikkie----- Original Message ----

Hi Guys,
Didn't really want to put a downer on Christmas but ours was not the best.
We lost Niall's dad to liver cancer on 20th December and he had only
been ill (and diagnosed) for 3 weeks. It all happened so quickly we
are in shock.
Niamh went into rest-bite care for a few days following the death as
we simply couldn't look after her and cope with organizing everything.
Luckily she has stayed well over Christmas with only one day of
vomiting in 6 days - an all time record.
We had a close call on Christmas eve morning when Conor (our 10 month
old) was left alone with Niamh for a split second and mamaged to speed
crawl across the room and had a good old tug at Niamh's jejunal tube
and very nearly pulled it out.
I came back in the room in the nick of time and screamed at him which
promptly made him cry hysterically and then started Niamh off crying -
at this point I felt like joining them!
We has Niall's mum with us for a few days as we thought the kids would
be a welcome distraction and she was a brilliant help with Niamh and
looked after her most of the day so I did get a bit of rest.
Hopefully new year will bring us some better luck.
Lots of love to you all and your little ones.
Alison x

> Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a
wonderful holiday season. Ours was great! The girls were spoiled
once again and Rylie was in a great mood Xmas day with smiles for
everyone. She really seemed to enjoy having everyone around talking
and of course, giving her kisses and cuddles. We were really happy
this year - last year was rough - we had just gotten the diagnosis of
MPEI so we were pretty glum. What a difference a year can make in the
change of attitudes. I'm so grateful that we're all together and am
not taking anything for granted. I have to say that Rylie's disorder
has helped me to grow as a person and to see good things more than I
ever did. All the best to you and I hope Santa/Father
Christmas/St. Nick was good to everyone. Big hugs,
Laura
