DESCRIPTION: The ME-List yahoogroup is a newly formed complement to the original Me-list LISTSERV discussion list on ABA applications for autism, with parent, family and professional members worldwide. The name is derived from Ivar Lovaas, Ph.D.'s book, "Teaching Developmentally Disabled Children: The Me Book".
The original Me-List LISTSERV was founded by Dr. Ruth Allen in February 1995, and has been managed and hosted for many years on the Indiana University IUPUI LISTSERV. This yahoogroup, as stated, is a complement to that group, allowing similar discussion in a yahoogroup platform.
TOPIC OF THE GROUP: The topic of the ME-list yahoogroup is applied behavior analytic applications to treatment of autism, esp. discrete trial intensive programs, although other ABA applications are on-topic, as are discussions of matters relating to early diagnosis of autism and related disorders, dealing with school systems and medical professionals, and practical aspects of setting up home-based behavioral intervention programs.
Extended discussions of other therapies, such as biomedical approaches or cognitive therapies are off-topic for this group. Moderators will remind members of this if discussion strays into extended discussion of off-topic areas.
This yahoogroup adheres to both the spirit and topics of the original Me-list LISTSERV. To respect the privacy of members and maintain the quality of the discussion, new members' posts will be moderated. Spammers will be banned and the offending post deleted.
On application to the list, please tell us why you want to join the list, and whether you are a parent or family member of a child/teen/adult with autism, or a professional (please tell us your interest in behavioral intervention and autism). this will help in getting to know who's joining the discussion, and approval by the moderator.
Thanks for your understanding.
Please contact the list owner: ME-list-owner@yahoogroups.com if you have any questions.
