The following is a copy of my response to some harsh criticisms I
received on other websites when trying to tell people about IRT. I
hope this can help answer some questions you might have.

- It is frequently stated by some, when first encountering it, that
there cannot be any validity to the effectiveness of Immune Response
Training without scientific, clinical evidence to that effect. Those
of us who tout the benefits of the surprising results we have gotten
through our testimonials are summarily declared liars, swindlers and
"shills" or just simply clueless tools of deception bowing to the will
of the false prophet. These accusations are being made by individuals
who have made no real attempt to examine the validity of these
testimonials. They are just assuming that they are contrivances
formulated to lure the desperate and disillusioned who can find little
help anywhere else. They ask, where is the evidence to support that
these claims are true?

Anybody see the problem here? Making the connection?

Why is it that most of us who have suffered from Lyme Disease cannot
get the care we need? Is this not one of the most pertinent topics
featured in these blogs? Isn't one of the biggest problems we face the
fact that the medical establishment cannot clinically "prove", by
their standards, that chronic, long term Lyme infections are a reality
or why there should be such a vast array of symptoms associated with
this? Therefore, for lack of "proof", in many areas there has been
little compulsion to give this matter any credence or investigate it
further. Does this in any way change the fact that PEOPLE ARE SICK?!

So, how is it that good, well-meaning, compassionate doctors, of which
there are too few, have made any determination that this a real
problem worth exploring and finding effective treatment for? They have
LEARNED this FROM THE TESTIMONIES OF INNUMERABLE INDIVIDUALS who have
walked through their doors complaining about the horrific condition
they are in!!! By openly and honestly discussing and observing the
nature of their symptoms, before and after treatment, doctors have
determined that there must be some validity to peoples claims.
Dr. D, one of my doctors, writes: The diagnosis rests heavily on the
clinical symptomatology... That chronic Lyme Disease actually exists,
and is likely the most common form of the disease, is supported by
epidemiologic studies demonstrating that 30-50-% of treated and
untreated patients go on to develop a multisymptom disorder...
Furthermore, the results of treatment studies appear to support the
hypothesis that persistent infection is responsible for the chronic
symptoms.

I know that this is not new information to many of those who have been
dealing with this illness for some time. We have almost been forced to
take it upon ourselves to look for answers, to find
some means of understanding what is happening to us and what we can do
about it. We have had to demand the attention and support of a body of
medical practitioners who would just as easily dismiss what we are
telling them, when the tests come back inconclusive, as being "all in
our head". How many times have we heard that? And that is just the
start of the trouble. We know the rest.

The point being that the only way we have had to show conclusively
that we are sick is by how we demonstrate our symptoms and through
what we have to say about them, in other words, through our
testimonies. It is then a question of whether anyone listens to us or
not that determines whether we have a chance at adequate treatment or
not. But then, what constitutes adequate or effective treatment? If we
can't "prove" that people are sick through clinical testing, then how
can we "prove" that they are getting well by that means either? If we
can't adequately determine the presence of the Lyme pathogen, how can
we determine that it is gone?

We know from clinical studies that if we isolate the Borrelia
spirochete in a laboratory environment we can show the effectiveness
of particular antibiotics in killing the organism. We also know that
in the body the behavior of the organism makes its eradication a much
more difficult matter. We also know that the presence of countless
co-infections complicates this matter even further. The result is an
insidious assault on the body for which there is still no conclusively
effective medical treatment, even if the infection is correctly
identified and extraordinary measures are taken to try to eliminate it.

This brings us to the issue at hand. It is the claim of Gary Blier and
Allergy Alternatives that Immune Response Training is effective in
instructing the body to kill the Lyme pathogens. Skeptics,
understandably, are shaking their heads (and their fists, it seems)
saying;
How can this be possible? Where is the proof?
To begin with, the proof likely cannot be demonstrated through
laboratory testing. It is quite unlikely that a culture of pathogens
in a test tube or petri dish is going to show any alteration when
exposed to IRT protocol (though it would be nice if it did). The
reason for this is that Immune Response Training requires a living
body with a reasonably functioning nervous system and immune system.
The premise is that the complexities of dealing with such an infected
body are best addressed through the body itself by supporting it to
use its own defenses to eliminate the offender. In other words, the
body can heal itself with a little coaching. Of course, this is very
difficult for some to accept. It is so far removed from their realm of
experience. For most who have engaged in this process however, the
results are undeniable. People who have been ill for many years and
have visited dozens of doctors have found a way out of this horrible
odyssey through IRT. Even so, in the minds of many of those with no
direct experience, the question remains, where is the proof that this
works? Where is the clinical evidence to support the claim that IRT
kills pathogens?

Where do you think it is? If, clinically speaking, the most reliable
means doctors have of diagnosing a lingering, chronic Lyme infection
is through the observed symptoms and expressed complaints of their
patients, then the most reliable way of determining the elimination of
an infection is through the observed cessation of the symptoms and the
testimonies of the patients to that effect. That's it. That is mostly
what we have to go on, which leaves us with an interesting problem.
Since IRT is dependent on the body to do its work, then the evidence
of this is dependent on the behavior of the body and the expressed
observations of the individual residing in the body who has been
experiencing this. The skeptics have been questioning the validity of
these testimonies and asking for other evidence to support the claims.
The point is THE TESTIMONIES ARE THE EVIDENCE, the fact that there are
people who are getting well is the evidence. Unfortunately, the
skeptics insistent discrediting of this is much akin to the attitude
of the doctors who have rolled their eyes in their heads as we have
tried to explain our plight to them, which is real, even if the tests
don't support it. Get it?

What it comes down to is this; the testimonies in question are honest
and true expressions of people's experience with IRT. The results they
have gotten clearly demonstrate that Immune Response Training can and
does work to eradicate infection and restore good health to the body.
As I have stated several times now, it has been two years since I
completed my IRT treatments and I remain in excellent health. That is
the truth, plain and simple.

No one is trying to force anyone to "believe" anything. If for some
reason you do not find this information compelling or are not
comfortable with pursuing such an unorthodox path, that is your
choice. No one is being condemned for that but for those who are more
skeptical to so outwardly voice their contempt for people, who are
only trying to help by sharing this information, is disturbing to say
the least. Again, whatever the arguments may be against it, IRT is
working for people and that is the most substantial, factual evidence
to support it as a viable, practical course of treatment.

Interestingly, the most vocal skeptics here are among the most
frustrated with the existing establishment and its treatment of
doctors who are trying to help them. Many of us are well aware that to
get through this illness we have got to be looking "outside the box"
somehow, beyond the established medical protocols. Mostly we do not
know what that means for us however, and it can often scare the hell
out of us. That is understood, but it is no excuse for so deliberately
undermining the efforts of those who are just trying to help without
adequately accessing the validity of their claims just because they
are coming from "outside the box".

There is no question from anyone who has experienced it that Immune
Response Training is "out there". It is hard to even know how it works
and that can make it difficult to communicate about. All we do know is
that it does work! That's the truth. As a result, we have been willing
to put ourselves on the line and face the cynicism and resignation of
others with whom we have been sharing this journey through hell to try
to let them know that there is a way out. Those of you who cannot
accept this will just have to forgive our "audacity" as we will have
to forgive yours for condemning us. Whether we like it or not, we are
all in this together.

That being said, I will offer this once again...

You do not have to live with Lyme Disease. I am proof.
