Janki -- I don't know exactly, but I have heard that muscle weighs about 2.5 times as much as fat, volume for volume. If you are losing inches, that is what counts!! Doesn't it feel great when the clothes get loose. I am now wearing size 10 again and it feels great!!

You probably are right. Because for years, I wouldn't drink anything
with food while I ate. People would think I was really weird, and my
dh could always rest assured that even with bad waiter service, he
could always grab my not-touched water. Part of it is that I have
very sensitive teeth and can't handle the ice. So at work, I drink
slightly warm water (sounds weird). And, for once I am finding water
very refreshing. I used to drink some soda occasionally (again, the
bubbles and cold hurt my throat), but more for the taste than for
thirst. And even if I had thirsty feelings, just a sip would
suffice. Naturally, I used to get these bladder infections
occasionally, because I wasn't flushing things out enough.
I don't eat much salt but now I really like drinking water. Today,
had a business meeting and drank a ton of water (nice excuse for
breaks too!). I know I'm flushing toxins out and such. Plus, my
skin looks really nice (no breakouts at all for while).
On a much unrelated note: does anyone have an idea how much weight
muscle weights in relation to fat? I've been on induction for a month
and finally switched to phase II at the start of the week (after dh
hit a weight goal). My calorie count is not too low, but I think ok,
not too much I think.
If anything I have stopped indulging on too much veggies and eat more
protein. I am limiting hte # of prepackaged Atkins stuff, and only
have a shake or breakfast bar for an emergency. I exercise at least
5 times a week, including weight training. However, recently I
haven't lost any weight-- in fact, gaining a few pounds. I'm only
4lbs below my starting weight! :( But, my clothes fit better and my
body is a lot "tighter" and toned (for the first time since I was
about 6 I almost have a flat tummy!). My dh says that I must be
gaining more muscle, which I think is good. But I wanted to see if
anyone actually knew for a fact that muscle weighs a lot more than
fat.
At my business lunch today, another of the attendees was low-carbing
it-- as he had the burger (left the bun) and switched fries for
salad. It's almost becoming a fun game to see how I can eat low-carb
when at these events (takes some creativity). And, happily, no one
ordered dessert so I didn't feel like a weirdo for not ordering it
either.
Ok, that's it for me. Now that we are in phase II we can cook much
more interesting foods too, I'm so excited! Please give me any tips
for the OWL phase, if you have any.
Happy weekend! (woo hoo, we are going with friends to a bbq place in
lafayette that's supposed to be really good, AND that doesn't put on
tons of sauce on the food. will report back).
