Re: [Low_Carb_SF_Bay_Area] thirsty

Janki -- part of what you are experiencing is that you are now recognizing thirst.  When you weren't drinking water you were dehydrated all the time and didn't even know it.

I've been very thirsty, and have been drinking water a
lot. I'm not sure the cause.  It's interesting because
before Atkins, I used to drink at most 2 glasses of
water a day. I wouldn't drink while eating, and in
general wasn't too thirsty.  However I know I was
dehydrated and my skin/scalp were always very dry.

Now, I drink btwn. 7-10 a day and everything looks
better, but I am thirsty. Not sure if my body is
excited to finally get the liquids and wants me to
keep it up. Or, perhaps it takes more water to digest
the proteins? my dh doesn't drink enough and said that
his kidneys were hurting and his urine was really
dark. i told him he'd better drink up or we'd quit--
he's now doing 6 glasses I think.

Anyhow, just wanted to share that I too am thirsty.

Janki -- I don't know exactly, but I have heard that muscle weighs about 2.5 times as much as fat, volume for volume. If you are losing inches, that is what...

1 pound of muscle = 1 pound of fat However muscle is more dense so it takes up less space. That's why you are losing inches and not pounds if you are...
