HI Gayatri

I find the subject of salt endlessly fascinating.

I was introduced to macrobiotics by the person importing unrefined hand harvested celtic salt to australia which at the time was the only unrefined salt you could get here so to me that was always synonymous with macrobiotics and healthy eating to me.

since then I have experimented with many different unrefined salts.

>From a Rudolph Steiner perspective it is a good idea to consume salt from the hemisphere in which you live. Ohsawa said that Steiner was truly macrobiotic - his ideas are amazing. Anyway it is also in line with mb principles. To eat veggies etc that are locally grown and sea products from at least within one's own hemisphere - now the salt I use most is sold by the people who import the celtic but it is harvested in the same way in the southern hemisphere in mauritus which has the same latitude as brisbane or thera bouts. I also use Cea-life which is a liquid ocean water concentrate from a pristine stretch of sea off the coast of australia. It is great for spraying on veggies as they cook or toasting nuts and seeds!

I do like the himalayan salt and have played with it. It is certaingly healthy and enlivening energetically but on a regular basis i still prefer to use a salt that is more directly from the sea. Our blood is our inner ocean. All salt is originally sea salt even rock salt but the direct relation to the sea is something i feel is important.

I did notice - maybe I was imagining it - that when i used the pink himalayn salt predominantly i felt increased pressure - this salt has been under a big mountain for 300 million years.

there is a wonderful and beautiful book called Water and Salt which talks aboutt he physical and esoteric aspects of salt and in particular the himalayan salt.

Hello Friends,
I bought Himalayan salt from a natural food shop locally. It said it had 84 minerals in it.

most unrefined slat with have an abundance of minerals - this is why it is so healing and why it is a world away from refined salt.

I have started using this salt now. Slightly pinkish in color.

It is lovely - some say it has a feminine energy.

I went online to know about the benefits.

of course it is unrefined and mineralised and has a charge

then of course there are the more subtle aspects - some say it has a feminine energy with the colouring etc

I have included 2 links below.
Although these are not independent websites and a large part would be marketing this product, I found some of the scientific facts given very interesting.

Check out the part where they show microscopic crystal structure of various salts and explain how easy it is for the body to absorb this salt. I did not know that minerals that just fill up holes in the salt crystal are not absorbable easily.
The part on how much the body has to use precious cellular fluid to balance the sodium is also very interesting.
