Challenging recipes - Christina Pirello's Roasted Vegetable Terrine   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #2655 of 2773 |
I've had challenges in the past - and with enough attempts have had successful results in the end - seitan, amasake.

Christina's terrine I've tried twice (from her book, Cook your way to the life you want) - the second time I decided because recipes don't always come out the same, I would just follow her recipe just more carefully. But the results were the same - the taste was nice, but it was impossible to cut, the roasted vegetables a bit chewy (especially the leek) and the dish didn't cut into nice presentations - the kanten part of it didn't seem enough.

but it's a lovely spring dish, refreshing, uplifting.

I definitely do intend to make it again. This time I will do what my intuition told me last time, I will simmer or saute the vegetables instead of roasting, and I will cut them even shorter. I did do that with the second attempt, but still not enough.

Has anyone else made this dish? Any thoughts? If by the miracle of technology, this post finds itself in Christina's hands, I would love to know how it comes out when she makes it. Ideally would love to see a youtube on it. And if that doesn't happen, well, I'll just wait til she gets to Israel in January and ask her then.

Anybody follow her PBS series and seen her make it on TV??
