This is quite a long article but seems to emphasize quantity of life over quality - he alludes to being healthier briefly a couple times and in the last line of the article does mention it's connection to health.
"Many researchers are focusing on the effects of CR on health-span as opposed lifespan," Carter said. "We know that small reductions in caloric intake, even as little as 8 percent, result in improvements in health related outcomes."
It's a step in the right direction - but doesn't answer two important issues: HOW do people succeed in changing such lifelong habits of eating?
and two, it doesn't really discuss what choices of food people eat
I wish macrobiotics would get more coverage because beyond just living longer or even living with less health problems, mb delves into what makes a Great Life, what brings deep joy, fulfillment, and gives tools of self-awareness. What if someone takes the calorie restriction seriously and finds themselves nervous and on edge - it so doesn't answer people's needs to reach balance and a deeper, happier life.
