When I was in clinical nursing I never asked but rather looked at the
diagnosis and reason for the catheter. While explaining the procedure
to the patient they would usually state whether they had one or had
previously had difficulty with catheterizations. Tough call. I would
look on gentourinary physician and nursing association websites for
