He Everyone,
This is a situation that occured while I was on a tour to Italy
recently. We were getting off the coach, deep steps to pavement. A
68 year old woman started to walk down the steps, ? caught foot on
step, fell head first directly onto the pavement. Long story short,
she fractured her skull, subdural hematoma, brain herniation, had 2
brain surgeries, on a trach, in a coma since accident April 27. Is
in a hospital in Italy..Husband is staying in a residence offered by
the Consulate so he doesn't have to pay. They cannot move his wife
even for transport to Germany to American Military Hospital let alone
back to the USA. They also did not have travel health insurance
although at their age they must have Medicare and some additional
health insurance.

I have questions about liability of the bus company? Also it would
entail an international lawyer or a lawyer who deals with tourist
injuries. Our tour organizer and guide said he spoke with the bus
company and said since the bus was not moving there was no case.
This meeting happened in Rome. I have a different feeling regarding
that conversation. Does anyone have experience in dealing,
consulting or know of an attorney who would handle such a potential
case? What is the tour bus liability?

I am doing some troubleshooting and investigation because I want to
bring substantive information to the family here in Tacoma, WA. I
don't think they know what rights they have. One daughter is in
chemo for Cancer and a brother cannot not travel to Italy..It's a
difficult situation....
