Way back when, we used to document allergies in red ink on the patients
chart.(On individual pages like doctor's orders.) Recently I was told by a
nurse
manager we no longer do that. We document in black or blue ink because we
don't want to call attention to a specific part of the chart. It should all look
the same. My feeling is in calling attention to an allergy we are protecting
the patient from an adverse problem. Anyone have any input about this?
Thanks,

Pam Ellico, RN, BSN, CPAN, LNC
