When young myself and four of my siblings lived in Pt. Pirie, S.A. As
I understand from what I am reading Pt. Pirie has the World's biggest
Smelters. I happened to contact Cathy Phipps, Director of the
Environment Section on the Council at Pt. Pirie. (*) I don't intend to
run ahead and make any assumptions but if anyone has anything they
find that is particularly related I'd love to hear.

I will be 49 this year.

For a short time in 67 -68 (still checking) my siblings 3, 4, 5, 7 (me
8)(# can be out slightly)spent time in a home across from slag heaps
with uranium enrichment ponds near the end of The Terrace. *Cathy let
me know that this area was the worst contaminated area lead wise and
would "never" be built on again. That house one door up from the end
was demolished.
In 70 back again around the corner in Francis St. we lived again for a
short while ages 6, 7, 8, 10, 11. This house and the shop in the
street has also been demolished. There is more details but I don't
want to put unnecessaries.

In 71 we moved to Mt. Gambier (non mining).. my mum developed un-
diagnosed for a few years thyroid condition which she now takes meds
for. My youngest sister was diagnosed with epilepsy and prescribed
phenobarb (?spel?) - she later "grew" out of this. She has always
been noted as aggressive and there are other problems associated that
I would prefer to discuss offline. We both agreed 10 years ago that
we have had labels put on us - but do not agree with what we have been
told (as yet!).

In 79 I moved with my new husband to Broken Hill NSW for 8 years. One
of the homes we rented before we moved to our bought home was in
Gaffney Street where slag heaps are and I notice that either 24 or 26
people in that street have affidavits regarding damage to their
children.
In 81 we had moved to our new home and in 84 I had my first child. I
had a baby girl with extreme brain damage and it was put as my
platelet skin destroying that of the child who carried the father's
type. In 86 I had my second child with the same condition though only
mild damage which they said was as a premi babies and should clear by
3 months which in scans we were told had. My first child died at 19
here in Qld through the severeness of which the brain damage had left
her. Though I question pretty well most things I was told in 84 that
I had a factory so to speak that was destroying platelets in my
blood. I have also developed like my younger sister a nervous system
condition.

I may very well have missed pertinent information here - if you can
help..great. I am doing research as much as I can to check on
something that has been on my mind for a long, long time.
