Dear All,
The Global Lead Advise and Support Service (GLASS) has had an enquiry from an environmental engineer in Baghdad, regarding data on lead pollution at petrol service stations and workers exposure to the fumes there. He has been researching this topic for a while and has not been able to get any data on the lead blood level or occupational health data.
When we seek the advice of the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), they were not able to provide us with this information either. It looks like this information does not exist and there is absolutely no work or data found on this issue.
We would like to bring to attention, why this is so? We are concerned that there are no data or information on the levels of exposure the petrol workers are facing. We feel that this information and data would be of vital importance and concern to Unions and refinery industry bodies in the 67 countries that still sell leaded petrol, particularly in assissting their government to move to ban leaded petrol.
If anyone has any opinions, suggestions or information on this issue, or know of a way we can get data on lead levels in petrol workers in these 67 countries, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Thanks for your time.
Thanks for your time.
Regards,
Elisa Idris
