The first step in getting an LKS diagnosis is to get a sleep EEG done,
preferably overnight. This will show up the spike and wave pattern that
LKS children have. Many children are mis-diagnosed with autism as LKS
is so rare. You need to see a neurologist as soon as possible, because
if your son does have LKS it needs urgent treatment. The longer the
spike waves continue, the more damage is potentially done.
