LSRsafe is a place for those trying to recover from alcohol or drug problems who may not feel ready for the rough-and-tumble of a larger, unmoderated email group such as LSRmail. It emphasizes a positive approach towards recovery under the abstinence-based philosophy of LifeRing Secular Recovery. Support is offered as each member finds his or her own path to full-time sobriety.

LSRsafe is SEMI-MODERATED, meaning the convener will try to ensure that all members are treated with respect at all times. Messages will be posted without review by the convener unless there is a problem. Those who can't master the art of dealing gently with people in a fragile state will be removed from the list. Flame wars, insulting or disrespectful posts, or harrassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

LSRsafe is PARTICIPATORY, meaning all members will be urged to participate on a regular basis. Reading supportive posts is helpful, but writing about yourself and responding to others is equally beneficial. At the very least, a monthly post of some sort will be strongly encouraged, even if it's brief.

LSRsafe is SAFE, meaning it is intended for the shy and fragile, the newcomer and the struggler, anyone who feels uncomfortable participating in the larger, busier and more diverse LSRmail. Relapsers and pre-quitters are welcome here, but posting while impaired may lead to removal.
