And thank you for sharing yours. I believe that there are literally millions of people like us out there who have been treated in such a shameful way. One mercury poisoning symptom is lack of self worth which makes people like us so vulnerable to the pharmaceutically based psychiatry. As if that wasn't enough, they spent the time that costs a fortune convincing you that you are mentally ill instead of searching for the root cause. I actually tried to get a supreme court writ to get me out of hospital in 1971 and that failed - they kept on giving me electric shocks until I agreed (confessed) that I was mentally ill.
20 treatments wow. In 1971 they did by lateral ECT and it was pretty devastating. They tend to use unilateral ECT these days. You have probably been suffering post traumatic stress like I have. I spent some time with a clinical psychologist specialising in Vietnam war vets which was helpful. I found that it was like subconscious torture to make you conform to some cultural politically correct behaviour that the psychiatrist could never articulate let alone express as a set of rules that you could obey and thereby get discharged as sane. My path to health has been through forgiveness as I said. It is the only way to jettison the baggage but it doesn't mean you have to forget and that you cannot speak out to save others from a similar fate.
My two incarcerations also involved sun gazing experiences (looking directly at the sun). I believe that sun light is also somehow involve in detoxification and there is some science that supports that. Check out some of my previous post for more background - there is always more to tell and a few funny stories (that also have their serious side with regard to human rights). I can't recall what I have posted so I will have to look myself.
On a lighter note in 1975 I went back to the institution and demanded a certificate of sanity. They couldn't give me one but that only illustrates that if they cannot pronounce someone sane how can they pronounce them insane. I believe that psychiatry and involuntary incarceration is nothing more that the 2009 version of the inquisition.
Remember that the rest of your life begins today and the good news is that it is great fun once you shed your labels and just walk on.
I posted some hair analysis results on files here

I also had 20 shock treatments and spent three years in that hospital. For the past 50 years I have lived a semi normal life, at times unconventional, and muddling through life. Three years ago, a doctor finally did a heavy metals test and now I know what is and was wrong with me. All those wasted years. Thanks for sharing your story.
