There are two upcoming events in the community that may be of interest
to some of you. Note that these are not LLL events.

I know that there is a lot going on this coming Saturday so know that
our Midwifery Picnic is going to be the best use of your time. It is
going to be a fun, casual time in the park with families, friends and
midwives. No performance necessary, no stress just show up with a
potluck dish and the people you love. Let's show the midwives we value
them. We have at least 20 midwives in our area, 8 of whom plan to join
us on Saturday including our local 95 yo granny midwife, Louise Ladd,
who never accepted a penny for her service. Let's share our
appreciation and gratitude for these individuals who have given our
community so much.
Here are the details:
When: Saturday, May 12, 2007
Time: 11 - 2 pm
Place: Belmont Park in Charlottesville which contains a full basketball
court, benches, swing set and playground equipment, large shady oak
trees, a Spray Ground and a courtyard with shelter.
Directions:
From the Downtown Mall: From the east end of the mall, head south on
Avon Street about 10 blocks and turn left onto Druid Avenue, travel
half a block to reach the park.
From Route 250 and Route 29: Head south on Emmet Street, turn left onto
University Avenue and continue onto West Main Street for several
blocks. Turn right onto Ridge Street and turn left onto Elliott Avenue
and travel several blocks and turn right onto Avon Street. Travel 2
blocks and turn left onto Druid Avenue and go half a block to reach the
park.
What to bring: potluck dish, family and friends
optional: picnic blanket, outside games/toys, swimsuit/towels for
splash ground (if it's working).
And another event at UVA:
At 10am on May 12 at the lovely UVa Hospital Link Atrium will be the
first ever Mom Expo! Guests will be welcome to peruse the dozens of
vendors in attendance, have lunch in the courtyard accompanied by live
harp music, get a massage, a free flower and more delightful treats.
There will be lectures scheduled throughout the day featuring keynote
speaker Jennfer Niesslein author of "Practically Perfect In Every Way"
and editor of BrainChild Magazine. Parking is free and easy!
