Nature's Child, a baby and young children's store on 29N, has
periodic classes that may be of interest to some LLL families. In
keeping with our promise to use this list sparingly, we won't send
out regular notices of these (and we are not affiliated with the
store), but just to give you an idea of what's offered, here's one
description of one that's very relevant to breastfeeding.
Note that you can join the store's email list to get monthly updates
on their classes, talks, storytimes, etc.
Remember, stop by and see us at the Vegetarian Festival on Sept. 27,
11-4 at Lee Park!

Local Lactivist Speaks Out
Emily Mohajeri Norris
6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 25

Charlottesville's mamas rock. Whether staging a nurse-in when a
restaurant discriminates against a breastfeeder or just making a
point of nursing your baby everywhere you need to be, we love the way
you value nursing moms and the amazing job they do, no matter where
it has to be done!
Mothering magazine readers were pleasantly surprised to see a local
mom in the July/August edition. Emily Mohajeri Norris, wrote an
article titled, "The Birth of a Lactivist," detailing her experience
with being denied her right to breastfeed her baby in a national
chain furniture store. While many moms would just fume quietly and
walk away, Emily took action -- with wonderful results! Join us in
the store as she gives a talk on her experiences, hosts a discussion
on breastfeeding in public, and hopefully, inspire the lactivist in
each of us!
