Hello Valerie,
I also have Hashimoto's and have had for over 20 years. It was treated with
Synthroid for years. In 1995 I became very sick with what was later
diagnosed as chronic fatigue syndrome. Strangely my thyroid began to measure
healthy. The truth was I was no longer converting T4 to T3, so the Synthroid
was building up in my system but was of no use.
I also learned around 1998 that I have very low growth hormone. I was
fortunate to be treated by an avant guard endocrinologist who knew how to
document low growth hormone using a stress test for IGF1 levels. This
allowed me to take injected growth hormone covered by insurance. I would
strongly encourage you to call every endocrinologist in your area and ask
the receptionist if he/she treats ADULTS with growth hormone and if they
accept your insurance. You should be able to get treatment if you have
decent insurance. (I know, that is a rare bird these days.)
BTW low growth hormone levels are very common in chronic fatigue syndrome
and Lyme patients. (These two groups are undistiquishable - no surprise as
cfs is probably a few chronic, virtually untreatable infections.) If LDN
helps you it may be because it helps sleep and improved the immune system. I
don't know. I just take it because it helps.
I also think that MS and ALS and Hashimoto's and RA etc are all caused by
undiagnosed chronic infections such as mycoplasmas and c. pneumonia etc.

Hi I am Valerie. Possibly some know me from the thyroid and adrenal
gropups I am on and moderate. At any rate I have heard just enough about
this treatment to peak my curiousity and nto enough to really know
anything about it. I suffer from several autoimmune doseases such as
Hashimoto's and possibly autoi8mmine DIabetes (Latent Onset Type 1
Diabetic) as well as undetectable IGF-1 whihc my doc thinks is either
autoimmune or genetic, we can not find useful information about the
cause of this it is so rare. but I may be interested in a trial of LDN
to see if it might be helpful for this condition as we are at a
standstill with treatingit. Replacement homrones are WAY outside my
price range at $700 a vial and I may need two vials a month, so I have
bene using experimental IGF-1 LR3 products but only minimal success and
still undetectable in labs. So any information would be veyr helpful.
