North Shore Pediatric Therapy Free Monthly Workshop

Teaching with Technology: Learn how to make the transition back to school easier for you and your child

August 31st 7:00pm

In this presentation, the audience will learn about an innovative behaviorally based technology that has proven effective for children in learning a variety of skills.  The presentation will include discussion on what video-modeling is and how it can be used to benefit your child. Presenters will discuss how video-modeling has been shown effective in teaching not only a variety of social and self-care skills to children, but also to relieve anxiety transitioning to a new school, conversation skills, perspective taking, academic skills, behavioral expectations in school, and even gross motor skills.

About the Presenters:
Lyndsay Ori  is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) who received a masters of science degree from Southern Illinois University in 2001.  Before accepting the role as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Section Director for North Shore Pediatric Therapy in January of 2009, she spent 8 years working as a Behavior Consultant for several school districts in North DuPage County.  Prior to her time working in the schools, she worked with individuals with traumatic brain injury and parents that were indicated of abuse and neglect through the State of Illinois.

Claudia Romero is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She graduated from Simmons College in Boston with M.S. in Behavior Analysis. Claudia has worked in a variety of settings, including schools, homes, residential facilities and vocational settings providing ABA services to children and young adults with developmental disorders both in the US and abroad. She also participated in the opening of the first charter school for children with autism in New York and completed an internship at the Perkins School for the Blind. Claudia enjoys being involved in research and has just finished one in "Teaching Calisthenics to Children with Autism Using Video Modeling".
