hello i am new to group. my 10 year old son and i are both allergic
to latex - type 1 reactions. am just coming off an iv of steroids and
benedryl due to my most recent anaphylactic reaction. my son is
homebound and i am trying to learn more about this allergy, and about
how he can return to school with this type of allergy. we are
basically prisoners to our home as we are scared to go anywhere due
to our reactions- also diagnosed with fibromyalgia, which i am
learning is common with latex allergy persons. i am looking forward
to learning more about this allergy and how to live with it minus the
severe anxiety it is giving me!! my son tested positive to the rast
test, but so far i havent, allergist said there are alot of false
negatives especially right after a reaction, so guess i will be doing
another test later. does anyone know if the ada is operable for
school with this type of allergy? just wondering...my son really
wants to go back to school but last time he tried he had a severe
reaction after being in the building 2 hours. looking forward to
hearing from all here..becky
