Hi -
I just discovered information that seems to indicate that I might have a latex
allergy. I have never been tested for it, since my time at
the doctors has been taken up with chronic pain.... I've been diagnosed with
fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, and because of this
pain I am always in, I just ordered a latex mattress.
I have a problem with the elastic in underwear - causes hives w/itching - & it
never occured to me that I may have an allergy to latex.
That is, until just now, when I read this info on one of my searches. Now I'm
worrying that exposure to this mattress may cause a
worse allergy.
I did read somewhere that the allergy is connected to allergic reactions to
bananas - and I tested positive to bananas on a blood test,
although I never noticed any reaction when I eat them.
The mattress I ordered is the Enlander latex mattress.... does anyone have any
thoughts on this? I don't want to make myself any
sicker, but the pain I'm experiencing is so bad, and I was hoping this mattress
would help.
thanks-
Lyn
